This Lent, we will be holding a series’s of reflections on the theme of: The Merciful Humility of God
This will be based on a book by Jane Williams. Dr Jane Williams is Assistant Dean and lecturer at St Mellitus College. The book’s jacket notes say: St Augustine’s insight was that it is only the merciful humility of God that can penetrate our armoured pride. As we follow this book through Lent and through the biblical narrative what begins to emerge is that God’s merciful humility is the source of life. The chapters of Jane’s book include: Humble beginnings; How to win friends and influence nobody; Reigning from a tree and Risen and ascended into humility. |
Her reflective Lent book will be a trusted guide to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of God’s humility during this religious period.
Here in St Andrew’s, week by week, we will read extracts from her chapters and reflect on the themes together. We will listen to reflective music and share prayers for ourselves and our community all in a gentle candle-lit atmosphere in the Margaret chapel.
Please do come and make this Lent a special time for us all.
God bless
Sean

Daily Lent Mediatation
If you like me are wondering if to give up or take up something for Lent, perhaps you would like to join me, I am going to be in church at 6pm every night and will lead a short service from a Lee Abbey sheet.
This will only take about 15 minutes. You don't have to come every night, come when you can.
