The Mustard Seed Vision
There is one principle at the heart of St. Andrew's church. We are Jesus disciples and we always seek His will. The Mustard Seed Vision emerged from a time of corporate prayer and waiting on God.

Jesus said in Mark 4:31,
“The mustard seed which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” As we waited on God, we were all very aware of just where our church was at this time. We recognised that the glory days of yesteryear are in the past. Today we find ourselves a village church that has gone through great changes. We have effectively done a "reset and restart".
This vision reminds us that, in God's economy, small is good. He can do great things with "small". And this is what Mark 4:31 says to us today. |
How can we apply this in our own lives?
God has blessed us in so many ways. He gave us Jesus who died on a cross so that our sins would be forgiven and He has given us eternal life with Him. He has given us His Holy Spirit to guide, help, empower and be indwelling in us. We have received all of this by faith, so when we look at this reading we can be confident that even if we only have a small amount of faith to start with, this will grow: How? Any one who plants seeds will know that they don’t grow without the following; - Water - Feed - Sun & Warmth - Nurturing. God has provided us with everything that is needed for our faith to grow. Water He has given us the water of life, His Holy Spirit, remember when Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well, John 4:9; Jesus said “ Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” Feed He Has given us the Scriptures in the Holy Bible, this is our spiritual food. Sun Our sun is God’s Son Jesus, He is our radiant light and shines upon us and warms our hearts. Nurturing There are many ways we can look after ourselves spiritually. Reading the Bible – Reading Christian Books – Worship – Going to Church regularly – Encouraging one another – Looking out for each other – House Groups – Prayer Partners. In Matthew 17:20 Jesus said “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain. ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” |
Because we have been given the gift of faith, we can say to the mountains in our lives whatever they may be, move and they will!!

Jeremiah 29: 11
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” |
